Corina and Dorin tied the knot here at el Cigarral de las Mercedes on Sunday the 19th of May 2019. Who would have known that they would get married when they first met on their friend’s birthday party that late night in Madrid?

The couple were on vacation in Australia, riding down the Great Ocean Road to the Twelve Apostles when Dorin asked Corina to marry him. As you can imagine the proposal were absolutely magical but perhaps a bit windy.

Corina started her day with breakfast in Villa Asia that is one of our 4 villas in our Boutique Hotel. Her hair and makeup were done by the talented stylists from Maquillate conmigo.

On the big day, Corina wore Pronovia’s Crystal dress which is a feminine and minimalistic low-waist mermaid dress with a wrap-around of-the-shoulder bodice with detachable long sleeves. It also has a long dramatic detachable train that starts off as a cape from the bias trim on the back. She matched with elegant cream coloured shoes from LODI.

She wore earrings from Blue Door Gifts, a necklace that she borrowed from her sister and a beautiful white and sparkling headpiece.

El Cigarral de las Mercedes’ in house florist made the bridal bouquet. It was a big bouquet with light pink peonies, yellow David Austin roses, white anemones and greenery such as eucalyptus and ruscus.

Corina of course wore her engagement ring from Nicol’s, a double band ring in white gold with a central rosette with 7 brilliant cut diamonds.

Dorin wore a black tailcoat from García Madrid and a watch from Daniel Wellington.

Religious Ceremony in the Mirador

The wedding ceremony was held in the Mirador at el Cigarral de las Mercedes at 12.30pm. The aisle was nicely decorated with a cream coloured carpet, baskets with white baby’s breath flowers and candles.

The ceremony was led by a pastor from the Christian orthodox church in Madrid.

After the ceremony the bride and groom and all of their family and friends enjoyed a cocktail hour with 24 different types of canapes. There was also a delicious cheese buffet and a big paella for the guests to try.

The lunch was served in the Salón de la Luz, our largest banquet area. The couple had chosen a beige tablecloth with pink spring flowers on it and a white charger with a small ball rim and the fleur-de-lis symbol on top. The tables were also beautifully decorated with pink and lilac flowers in small vases on a mirror base.

When the guests sat down at the table, they found a pyramid of tea from TEA FORTE that they could bring home as a memory of this lovely day.

Corina and Dorin had chosen to start the lunch with a partridge souqet that was served with foie grass cannelloni and balsamic vinegar. Then they continued with Sea bass with vegetable couscous and Beurre blanc sauce and steak tenderloin with marsala sauce, cheese parmitier and mushrooms. They finished the meal with blackberry tarts with violet ice cream and berries.

After the dinner the couple started off the open bar with their first dance as husband and wife to the song Shallow with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.

The photographer on the wedding was Yago Iglesias and as you can see in this blogpost, he’s very talented.

Corina and Dorin said that if they could get married all over again, they would do everything exactly the same.
